What you should know about Facebook Interest Lists

Facebook Interests. Not everyone knows about this fairly new feature from Facebook released only a couple of months ago. It let’s you create your own news feeds based on common interests. If you don’t know where to find it, go to “Home” at the top right corner of your Facebook page. Next, look bottom left where it says “Interests”.

There are two really great reasons why this is fabulous. The most obvious, it lets you control what you want to see in a single feed, like say, for example, you’re into “Cooking.” You can create an Interest List of your own (or follow someone else’s) and include other Facebook pages of, say, local chefs, restaurants, cooking products, fresh produce, recipes, friends of yours who cook…you name it. Other’s who share your passion for cooking can follow this list too. This is also a good idea for anything you want to share on a local level, adding in local businesses’ Facebook pages and figure heads from the community so everyone can to stay up to date.

In essence, you are creating your own news channel based on an interest, as well as attracting and building an audience—which is the second fabulous reason for loving this feature. It creates opportunities for your posts to get seen by other people outside your Facebook friends and fans.  Especially, if you have a Facebook business page, you should seek out as many similar Interest Lists as possible and ask the curator to add your page or yourself to the list. And of course, don’t forget to create your own list where you add your Facebook business page to further increase the chances of your page getting seen. If you’re not sure where to start, we suggest adding GTM’s Fav Tech & Mom Blogs to your list of Interest to follow. And let us know if YOU’D like to be added to the list.
