No doubt, the hottest trend in tech for both businesses and their customers is finding safe and easy ways to make the transaction process faster—so you don’t have to waste time standing in the checkout line. There are a few companies who’ve embraced various, emerging technologies, but one company who’s doing it particularly well, not surprisingly, is Visa with their new service called payWave. It let’s you make virtually instant payments just by holding up your specially-marked and embedded Visa card against a secure reader. That means all you have to do to make a purchase is look for this special symbol at checkout, hold up your card and wait for confirmation. No waiting for a receipt (unless you want one) No handing over your card to the checkout lady who sometimes might forget to give it back. We especially like the clever little keychain version it comes in, which is like having no card at all.
Visa payWave let’s you breeze through checkout. And, in case you’re wondering about safety, you’re protected by multiple levels of security, just the same as when you swipe your Visa card. Visa monitors all of your transactions and quickly responds to any fraudulent activity. If your card is ever lost or stolen, you are protected by Zero Liability for unauthorized purchases. You can read more about the details here.
If you want to see where exactly you can use this cool new credit card in your area, check out the businesses near you who accept payWave here. I was happy to find a ton of merchants in my neighborhood now accepting it.
The technology has well caught on in Europe with the same Visa service available, only
named Contactless payments. They’ve just launched a new campaign, “Feel Faster, Flow Faster with Visa” promoting just how fun and easy it is to use the feature. In their TV spot, you follow a new Grandfather through his journey to the hospital to see his new grandchild. It’s both touching and sweet, all while driving home the convenience of the card—and even the service available on a mobile device. Take a video break and have a look. It’s just too cute.
If you’re interested in either the U.S. version of Visa payWave or the European version, Visa Contactless, give it a go and let us know how you like it. Already have it? We definitely want to hear from you in the comments section below. Happy shopping!
