GoTechMom.com is based out of Rye, New York. The town endured a fairly harsh pummeling and has received a Federal Disaster Declaration, making the region along with the rest of Westchester county eligible for federal aid. Individuals and government entities may be eligible for help. Individuals affected by Hurricane Sandy should call 1-800-621-3362 to register for assistance.

Power & heat continues to be out and is presumed to back to normal by November 9th, according to Con Ed.

Although the storm has passed, the City is still in public safety mode with many downed wires, damaged trees and traffic control devices.  Residents should limit travel and stay away from wires, hanging branches and fallen trees as the City clears the roadways.  The damage to the City is widespread with both coastal damage and fallen trees.  The tidal surge was well-above normal at 6 to 11 ft.  90% of the City is without power and residents should prepare to be without power from an early estimate of 2-7 days.  This was a major storm like no other, and City officials will continue to work tirelessly with our residents to get the City up and running again.

No one loves Rye, NY more than GoTechMom. Take a look at how truly beautiful our city was before hurricane Sandy at facebook.com/RyePhotos in the Gallery section. We hope everyone who was affected by the storm is safe and dry with friends and family.
